First Aid & AED Use

Every workplace, public setting, and household requires individuals capable of providing immediate and effective assistance during a medical crisis. Sudden cardiac arrest and critical injuries require a rapid response that often occurs before professional emergency services arrive. This MQF Level 2 Award addresses this critical gap by providing certified competence in Basic Life Support (BLS) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), thereby enhancing public safety and meeting occupational health and safety requirements.

What I will learn?

The programme aims to enable participants to:
• Recognize a range of life-threatening emergencies and sudden illnesses.
• Respond safely, promptly, and effectively to an emergency situation.
• Apply the essential steps of Basic Life Support (BLS), including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Utilize an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) confidently and correctly.
• Administer appropriate first aid for common injuries and medical conditions until professional help is available.

About Course

This concise yet comprehensive 10-hour course is meticulously designed to equip individuals with the fundamental, life-saving skills required to respond confidently to a wide range of medical emergencies. Accredited at MQF Level 2, the award validates a beginner’s competency in providing essential first aid and operating an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
The curriculum focuses on practical, hands-on application, covering crucial topics such as scene safety, primary and secondary assessments, managing an unresponsive casualty, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and choking protocols for adults. A significant portion of the training is dedicated to the correct and timely use of an AED, the only definitive treatment for sudden cardiac arrest. By the end of this intensive program, participants will possess the certified knowledge and confidence to stabilize a patient and maintain life until professional medical services arrive.

This program has a duration of 10 Hours, is held in Malta, and costs 100 Euros; it is delivered in multiple languages through interpreter services, which are available upon request and subject to student numbers.
