Welcome to the Construction Circular Saw training course, a crucial program designed to equip you with the essential skills for safe and proficient use of one of the most fundamental tools in the building trade. In the modern construction industry, efficiency and, more importantly, safety are paramount. This specialized course is a joint initiative between the Malta Development Association (MDA), dedicated to raising professional standards within the Maltese construction sector, and the European Vocational Academy (EVA), known for delivering high-quality, practically focused vocational training across Europe.
This collaboration ensures that the curriculum is perfectly aligned with both local regulatory requirements and the highest European standards for occupational health and safety in construction. Whether you are a newcomer to the building site or an experienced worker seeking formal certification and a skills card validation, mastering the circular saw is a necessary step. By the end of this intensive session, you will possess the knowledge and practical confidence to operate the circular saw accurately, maintain the equipment effectively, and contribute to a safer, more efficient working environment, directly enhancing your professional value and compliance.
In the area of Safety & Regulation, candidates gain the knowledge of relevant legislation and can identify major hazards like kickback, dust, and noise. They develop the skill to correctly select and wear appropriate PPE (goggles, ear defenders, dust mask). Crucially, they achieve the competence to conduct a full risk assessment of the work area before initiating any cutting task, demonstrating autonomy in safety decisions.
Regarding Operation, learners know the function of all saw components (guards, riving knife, base plate). Their skills include the ability to accurately measure, mark, and cut various materials to a required dimension and angle. This culminates in the competence to choose the appropriate blade (material and teeth count) and technique for any specific task.
For Maintenance, participants learn the correct procedures for blade mounting, removal, and disposal. They master the skill of performing thorough pre-use and post-use checks and basic operational maintenance, allowing them to take responsibility for the maintenance log of the equipment and promptly report any faults.
